As a freelancer in brand management and consultancy, Renée assists artists and creative organisations to explore best and new practices and ensure they remain inspirational and sustainable. Renée works across, marketing, partnership strategy, audience development, events, mentoring, fundraising, sponsorship, strategic and business planning, programming, communications, brand and operations. Her advice is practical, effective, and focused on the individual client. It is based on extensive experience in the commercial and creative sectors.
Renée’s role was to manage the Foundation as the key fiduciary support organisation for the Auckland Art Gallery. In this role she supported the Chair and Trustees of the Auckland Art Gallery Foundation and the Director of the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki. Renée established and launched a new Foundation Membership programme in May 2016. Renée’s key responsibilities included developing and maintaining strong, long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with benefactors and supporters of the Foundation. She also managed and successfully delivered innovative avenues to attract philanthropy, fundraising, gifts and bequests. This included events, communications and marketing, managing the Foundation accounts, administration, CRM database and all communications. Reporting bi-monthly to the Foundation Trustees.
In this role Renée was the lead relationship holder for Auckland Council’s Arts and Culture Unit and Central local boards. Her key responsibilities included advising funded partners on their business strategy and operations and ensuring they met their objectives of adding value to the community; advising local boards on opportunities to support their local arts and culture practitioners and facilities; Managing term grants between local boards and funding partners to the value of $800,000 per annum; building and maintaining key arts and culture stakeholder relationships, alongside the marketing and promotion of arts and culture events.
The Arts Foundation established Boosted in 2013, to build a new generation of arts donors. Boosted provides a way to raise money for the arts by using crowdfunding.
Renée managed all areas of product development, management and launch of the Art Foundation’s crowdfunding platform Boosted. In this role she managed the Boosted project administrator and intern team, while developing branding and marketing plans and executing PR. Renée developed and maintained key sponsor, donor and stakeholder relationships.
As the Marketing and Communication Manager, Renée oversaw the development and implementation of marketing/branding strategy, delivery of all marketing and all events. She developed new business strategies for the company, managed the design and auction delivery teams, including interns. In her role, Renée was able to implement strong processes and establish relationships with key stakeholders.
In her role at Te Tuhi, Renée managed staff and oversaw the public programme, which included exhibition and major event co-ordination. Her key responsibilities included website and database management; monitoring financial performance of public programmes and classes; fundraising and sponsor sourcing for public programmes, events and classes and management of the annual Manukau Youth Art Awards and Iris Fisher Scholarship programme. During her tenure at Te Tuhi, Renée established the HOME New Zealand Design Awards exhibition and associated events.
During her year in this role, Renée sourced and prepared funding and sponsorship applications for the gallery. Her key roles included marketing and editorial assistance and the project management of the Mystic Truths exhibition catalogue, for which she was able to secure major sponsorship.
During Renée’s internship she took on the responsibility to deliver the Learning Outside The Classroom Programme and a new Education Outreach Programme. Renée was also responsible for the sourcing and preparing of funding and sponsorship applications.
In her tenure at the National Gallery of Victoria, Renée assisted in developing the Asian art gallery spaces and programme, as well a cataloging the collection in preparation for its relocation to the new gallery on St Kilda road.
